Brunswick Sewer District WWTF Septage Receiving Tank Plant Upgrade

Charleston, SC, April 20, 2016 – EnviroMix announced today that its BioMix™ Compressed Gas Mixing System will be utilized at the Brunswick Sewer District WWTF in Brunswick, ME. The BioMix System will be installed to mix a Septage Receiving Tank as part of the Plant Upgrade Project being conducted jointly by Wright-Pierce Engineering and PC Construction Company.

With no moving parts in the basin, BioMix Compressed Gas Mixing provides a more robust solution than traditional mechanical mixers, which can experience significant O&M challenges due to the high levels of trash that can be present in a septage receiving application. Compared to coarse bubble diffused aeration, which is another alternative mixing solution for septage, BioMix offers a 40-50% reduction in operating power and nearly a ten-fold decrease in the volume of air used to mix. The significant reduction in air volume is important, since many septage receiving systems include odor control that is sized based on the volume of air that needs to be scrubbed.

Tyler Kunz, VP of Sales at EnviroMix, states, “This is an exciting project for us because it is our first installation in the State of Maine and mixing septage represents a niche application that ideally suits the value propositions of our BioMix Compressed Gas Mixing System. We are confident that this installation will lead to many more similar opportunities.”

The BioMix system is expected to be operational by the fall of 2016. EnviroMix is pleased to provide the Brunswick Sewer District with an energy-efficient and robust mixing solution for this demanding application.
