City of Benton, Illinois Constructs New WWTF

Charleston, SC, January 11, 2017 – EnviroMix announced today that its BioCycle-D™ Aerobic Sludge Digestion Process will be installed at the Benton, Illinois WWTF. The BioCycle-D system will be installed as part of the new 1.65 mgd facility, designed by HMG Engineers, Inc. and constructed by River City Construction.

The facility’s aerobic digestion process, utilizing BioCycle-D, will provide for sludge treatment and stabilization. BioCycle-D is a unique process which is designed by right-sizing the diffused aeration system to satisfy process oxygen demand and applying energy efficient mixing through the use of the BioMix™ Compressed Gas Mixing System.

The BioCycle-D maximizes sludge destruction, minimizes energy consumption, and provides automatic process control by decoupling aeration from mixing through instrumentation feedback. It is projected that the Benton wastewater treatment facility will experience 50%+ energy savings versus a conventional diffused aeration mixing system alone.

Dave Lauer, P.E., Director of Regional Sales states, “Selection criteria for EnviroMix’s system included both energy efficiency and improved sludge digestion process control. The EnviroMix system is a key part of the new wastewater treatment facility. We are confident that this installation will lead to many more similar opportunities in the region and across the US.”

The BioMix system is expected to be operational by the fall of 2017. EnviroMix is pleased to provide the City of Benton with an energy-efficient and optimized solution for this aerobic sludge digestion application.
